About Us / News / SDG Announce Charity of the Year 2021

SDG, have announced that we will be supporting 2 charities in the year ahead. Our family run business which this year celebrated 30 years in business, decided it was a fantastic initivate to give back to local charities and launched a campaign across our social media platforms to search for SDG Charity partner earlier this year.

A number of nominations were received which were then presented to our staff to choose a preferred charity to support. SDG staff voted for their preferred charity partner, which proved to be a close call. Following on from the staff vote the company has this year partnered with Cancer Fund for Children and Air Ambulance NI, to support them both in their important works.

Commenting on the charity partnerships, Louise Skeath, CEO of SDG said:

“As a company we really care about doing the right thing by our customers, and the supply chain we work in. The idea of our team coming together to support charities and give something back is important to the business.

We are delighted to have agreed to support Cancer Fund for Children and Air Ambulance NI as SDG’s Charity of the Year for 2021. We have already started to fundraise and have a target of £10,000 which we hope to secure through events, partnerships, donations and activities including the forthcoming Air Ambulance NI Dragon Boat Race, an SDG Golf Day and a Charity hike over the course of the next year.

“We wanted to fundraise for the Cancer Fund for Children as they complete such amazing work for children and young people diagnosed with cancer, or living with a parent diagnosed with cancer. They offer support in their home, community, on the hospital ward and at their excellent residential center, so that no family has to face cancer alone .”

“Air Ambulance NI is our other selected charity as they provide such an important service through the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) for the region, dedicated to responding to serious trauma and medical emergencies in Northern Ireland” Louise added.
