PROJECT SUMMARY
SDG are a proud supplier of waterproofing materials to the £220m A6 D2D scheme. This significant infrastructure project will see the construction of 25.5 kilometers of new high standard dual carriageway between Dungiven and Drumahoe.
Dungiven will include a new bypass, and the project will terminate with roundabout connections to the exiting road network at either end.
THE CHALLENGE
The A6 will form a vital route from North-West to Belfast and beyond, the exiting road carries approximately 15,000 cars per day with this figure set to grow in coming years.
The Department for Infrastructures investment in this project will greatly improve road safety and journey times by reducing congestion.
OUR SOLUTION
Working closely with the Site Team, SDG proposed a range of civil engineering sealants for the culverts on the project. We proposed a custom extruded profile of compressible seal, a high-performance polyurethane joint sealant and a fully bonded bituminous sealing strip for the external waterproofing. It was imperative that the joints be sealing against ground water ingress.
Products proposed:
- Koster Aquastrip (Compressible sealing strip)
- Koster KSK SY-15 (Bonded bandage tape)
- Hyperseal Expert 150 (Joint sealant)
THE RESULTS
SDG’s knowledge and experience was welcomed throughout the project. We provided close on-site technical backup, along with continuous material selection advice.
Throughout the project we offered on-site technical back up, along with next day delivery of all key materials. We worked together in partnership with site to ensure materials were installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s installation instructions.
