PROJECT SUMMARY
Turkington Construction successfully executed the £13 million relocation project for The Department of Agriculture, Environment & Rural Affairs (DAERA) Headquarters, which is now situated in Ballykelly, Co. Derry. This outstanding undertaking created a significant milestone as it marked the inaugural
instance of a government department moving its headquarters to a rural location in Northern Ireland.
The three-storey office facility was meticulously designed with a strong emphasis on environmental friendliness.
THE CHALLENGE
The 5175m² head office exhibits a distinctive and straightforward geometric design that harmonises seamlessly with the rural landscape, respecting and enhancing its inherent character.
In addressing the acoustic considerations, the project aimed to achieve dual objectives: enhancing the acoustic comfort within the building while also complementing the rustic and organic ambiance of its surrounding environment.
OUR SOLUTION
SDG’s team of acoustic experts was called upon to provide a solution to enhancing the acoustic comfort of buildings and can also seamlessly blend with rural surroundings.
SDG supplied Décor Slat Acoustic Panels, these acoustic panels provide a cost-effective and aesthetically pleasing solution.
The Décor Slat Acoustic Panel system allows the designers to create a dynamic and elegant space using the natural look of timber battens. The flexibility of the panelled slat systems, available in various sizes and finishes, enables a bespoke design that perfectly complements unique geometrical buildings. By utilising pre-finished panels, the installation process is exceptionally quicker, leading to faster project completion and reduced onsite costs.
THE RESULTS
The incorporation of SDG Décor Slat Acoustic Panels proved to be a resounding success, providing a harmonious blend of functionality, aesthetics, and environmental sustainability for the client.
The project stands as a testament to the effectiveness and efficiency of these panels in achieving the desired acoustic comfort while complementing the natural feel of the surrounding environment.
