SPHERICAL BEARINGS
ELA spherical bearings are made of steel, hard chrome plated spherical segment, the so-called calotte (convex), a corresponding, with PTFE equipped calotte receiver (concave) and a sliding unit on the plane side of the calotte, consisting of embedded PTFE and austenitic steel grade 1.4404.
This design is capable to take horizontal displacements as well as a rotation through two independent sliding motions. This fulfils the requirement, that the support of a structure should result in limited restrains particularly well. With additional guides or a stop ring, it is furthermore possible to transfer horizontal loads.
