The prestigious Central Bank of Ireland opened its doors in 2017, after a successful delivery through Walls Construction and Henry J Lyons Architects. The new Central Bank of Ireland Headquarters reflects a renewed and revitalised institution. Its distinct profile reflects the surrounding maritime setting, commanding a strong presence in the docklands area.
The transformation of the building’s interior blends flexible open plan offices, with a variety of collaborative working spaces. This renewed design, works to create an innovative working landscape for the Banks 1,450 employees.
Standing at 8 stories tall, with a total floor area in excess of 22,000m², the sheer volume of internal space raised concerns regarding noise levels. With the number of employees and visitors on site at any one time, noise levels were of a concern at an early design stage.
SDG were proud to work with Platt and Reilly, to provide a designed acoustic ceiling system from our key partners, Vogl Germany.
VOGLFUGE® acoustic ceilings meet the highest demands in terms of function and aesthetics in moderns high grade buildings. In highly frequented areas, such ceiling systems serve as sound absorbers, cooling element and eye catcher at the same time.
Unlike conventional ceiling solutions, errors in the installation are immediately visible and correctable at an early stage.
The unique joint technology of VoglFuge offers maximum reliability for installation, resulting in:
This is where the VoglFuge® system comes into play, a system which achieves acoustic design ceilings quickly, economically and with the most reliability during installation for guaranteed results.
On the BT ThermoPin, Taranto’s Design Manager commented: – “The BT ThermoPin was a simple for choice us. We can use less per SQM than market alternatives, meaning less material and subsequently less overall cost to our programme. The assistance with design for us is imperative, it frees us up to concentrate on other aspects of production whilst giving us assurances that our designs are more than sufficient. We are very happy with the innovative solutions that SDG continue to provide us with consistently”
SDG working with Todd Architects designed and supplied a unique jointing system of acoustic ceilings expertly installed by Castle Ceilings.
SDG are the supply partner of Bekaert Murfor Compact, which was used to reinforce the external masonry. Used by MG Construction Murfor Compact offered a fast, simple and economical way of reinforcing masonry walls.
SDG working alongside Doran Consulting from design stage right through to advising the construction team on site reference installation best practice for bridge bearings at this Belfast project.
LIV Student Accommodation with over 11 floors of Shearail® used to increase the shear resistance of a slab, and safety transfers the shear load from the slab to the column.
At SDG our knowledge of the impact of the correct acoustics in different environments grows it is no surprise that the education sector is one area where you can’t afford to be complacent.
Through the use of the BT turnbuckle on these LIDL store projects it has been possible to reduce the temporary bracing, increase safety and shorten the assembly time for the precast wall elements , it ticks all our the boxes. We are excited to implement it in our future projects.
SDG have always gone above and beyond for us. With SDG’s technical support our team have the ability to use the most effective and innovative solutions to improve quality, save time and perform more effectively.
I spoke to Ciaran Donnelly and after a few subsequent drawings emailed back and forth we agreed on the detail. SDG had the assembly on site within 3 days and saved us a lot of time on site with cutting and welding. We were able to lower the assembly into place in one piece with no concerns. I would most definitely engage in this service again.
